Infographic Definitions (adapted from the EEOC's Procedures For Providing Reasonable Accommodation For Individuals With Disabilities)

Disability: A physical or mental impairment that substantially limits a major life activity.

Interactive Process: A flexible approach used in accommodation case assessment that begins upon receipt of an accommodation request. The process engages all stakeholders to gather information, evaluate restrictions and propose reasonable accommodations. 

Reasonable Accommodation: A modification or adjustment to a job or work environment that enables a qualified employee to perform essential job functions.

Undue Hardship: Refers to the significant difficulty or expense, as it relates to the individual employer, incurred by providing a particular reasonable accommodation.
